Colorado Real Estate Exam Details
To help you prepare for the Colorado real state exam, we included information on how to schedule your exam, the exam’s format, and what you’ll be tested on. Now, all that's left to do is study with the best exam prep in the nation!
Exam Application
Apply for an initial real estate license at the following website: PSI Candidate Care Center, or by calling (855) 744-0313. The exam must be scheduled at least one day in advance.
Current Processing Timeframes: Applications can take up to 10 days from receipt to be processed by the Division of Real Estate.
Broker Exam
- An applicant must provide proof of being at least 18 years of age
- Proof of having completed 168 hours of pre-licensure education
- The applicant should complete the background check requirement through an approved vendor
- Proof of having obtained errors and omissions insurance
- Apply online for a license after all required documents have been submitted and the real estate exam is successfully passed
- Pay exam fee of $45 and license fee of $485
Exam Format
There is a national portion as well as a state-specific portion.
Broker Examination: The national portion consists of 80 multiple choice questions and must be completed within 120 minutes. The state-specific portion consists of 74 multiple choice questions and must be completed within 110 minutes.
The exam is given on a computer at the following locations: Denver, Fort Collins, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, and Durango.
Exam Content
Passing the Exam
Broker Examination: You must correctly answer at least 75% of the national portion (60 questions must be correct) and 72% of the state-specific portion (53 questions must be correct).
What To Bring
Applicants must bring 2 forms of current identification with matching names and a valid signature. At least one must be government issued and photo bearing. These can be any of the following:

- Passport
- Green card
- Social Security card
- Debit or credit card with signature
